Hamilton Holt delivers an “Open Sermon” to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Knowles Memorial Chapel.

 

Clara Guild, Rollins College
Clara Louise Guild '90, first graduate of Rollins

 

 

 

Rollins Institute for Church and World Peace is held.

 

 

 

Bach Festival Society is founded.

 

 

  The College Arms is built (purchased by Rollins in 1969).

 

 

 

Clara Guild is awarded Rollins Decoration of Honor.

   

Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda Chapter (XI), established.

 February 26

 

 

Honorary degree awarded to Irving Bacheller, distinguished in creative writing. This occasion was also marked by the publication of a Bibliography of the Writings of Irving Bacheller by Professor A.J. Hanna of Rollins. This book was described as a model of its kind by The Saturday Review of Literature on March 23rd, 1940. A limited number of these bibliographies still exist.

 

 April 14

 

 

Dyer Memorial, the building which now houses the Faculty Club, is dedicated.

 

 

 

 

Beal-Maltbie Shell Museum is dedicated.
