Cornell Fine Arts Museum

Educational Services

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum invites teachers in primary and secondary schools in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties, as well as instructors in community colleges and universities, to take part in its award-winning educational programs.

Plan a trip with your class to see our distinguished collection and exciting exhibitions. Students will learn about the elements of art, the tools of critical thinking, and the appreciation of art.

Schedule a tour for your classes with our well trained docents. Students will be introduced to the new world of art, history, and humanities. All tours have "directed looking" activities.

Become a member of the Cornell (special rate of $20 for teachers and students), and help support "one of the top ten free attractions in America" (wrote Arthur Frommer, travel expert), receive discounts, a year's subscription to our newsletter, invitations to exhibitions, special member events, docent training, etc.

The Cornell's Collection and Exhibitions

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum's permanent collection of more than 6,000 objects is one of the largest and most distinguished in Florida. The collection ranging from Renaissance to contemporary art and displayed in a variety of exhibitions throughout the year is used to support and enhance the primary, secondary, and undergraduate curriculum in Central Florida schools and colleges.  Exhibitions of the permanent collection and traveling exhibitions are major educational resources that are offered without charge to all.

Community Outreach

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum gives docent-led tours to the general public and special groups, such as Central Florida clubs and organizations, elder hostels, the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and other tourist groups.

The Museum's public programs include lectures by Distinguished Visiting Scholars and Artists, films and other ongoing educational programs for students and adults.

Teacher Workshops

Teacher workshops are held throughout the school year. Workshops are multi-disciplinary, featuring art and one other discipline, such as literature, theater, or music. Other workshops feature media and techniques taught by Rollins College art faculty, local artists and teachers. Workshop participants earn Teacher In-Service points.

Collegiate Programs

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum serves Rollins College students and faculty as an informal, extended classroom for interdisciplinary study. The permanent collection also serves Rollins and other area college and university students as a major cultural resource for the writing of papers on specific artworks. The Museum has special evening hours every month for collegiate tours and lectures.
