The Cornell's Collection and Exhibitions
The Cornell Fine Arts Museum's permanent collection of more
than 6,000 objects is one of the largest and most distinguished
in Florida. The collection ranging from Renaissance to contemporary
art and displayed in a variety of exhibitions throughout the
year is used to support and enhance the primary, secondary, and undergraduate
curriculum in Central Florida schools and colleges.
Exhibitions of the permanent
collection and traveling exhibitions are major educational
resources that are offered without charge to all.
Community Outreach
The Cornell Fine Arts Museum gives docent-led tours
to the general public and special groups, such as Central
Florida clubs and organizations, elder hostels, the Orlando/Orange
County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and other tourist
groups.
The Museum's public
programs include lectures by Distinguished Visiting Scholars
and Artists, filmsand other ongoing educational programs
for students and adults.
Teacher Workshops
Teacher workshops are held throughout the school year. Workshops
are multi-disciplinary, featuring art and one other discipline,
such as literature, theater, or music. Other workshops feature
media and techniques taught by Rollins College art faculty,
local artists and teachers. Workshop participants earn Teacher
In-Service points.
Collegiate Programs
The Cornell Fine Arts Museum serves Rollins College students
and faculty as an informal, extended classroom for interdisciplinary
study. The permanent collection also serves Rollins and other
area college and university students as a major cultural resource
for the writing of papers on specific artworks. The Museum
has special evening hours every month for collegiate tours
and lectures.
