Rollins College
Communiqué Wins Public Relations Award for "Baking for
Breast Cancer" Community Service Project
April 25, 2008
Rollins
student organization Communiqué, the student chapter of
the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) won the
only award presented to students during the 2008 Image
Awards. The awards ceremony was held Thursday, April 20
at the CityArts Factory in downtown Orlando.
Rollins College Hamilton
Holt School students Marja Kolomyski and Nicole Webb,
and Rollins College Director of News & Media Relations
Jeni Hatter won an Award of Distinction for "Baking for
Breast Cancer."
The community service
project, organized by Communiqué, the Rollins College
student chapter of FPRA, included collecting money
during bake sales. As a result, $1,000 was raised for
breast cancer awareness and proceeds were donated to the
Susan
G. Komen for The Cure Foundation.
The award entry will now
be submitted to the state Image Awards competition.
Winners will
be announced at the FPRA state conference to be held
next month in Orlando. This is the second
public award Communiqué has received in the past two
years.
The Image Awards
competition is conducted annually by the Florida Public
Relations
Association to recognize outstanding public relations
programs in Florida and to encourage
and promote the development of public relations
professionalism in our state.
The Image Awards have become a standard of public
relations excellence in the state of
Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of
innovation, planning and design. The
awards competition includes four divisions of
categories: Public Relations Programs, Printed
Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual Tools of Public
Relations and Student Projects in
Public Relations. To qualify for judging, an entry must
incorporate sound public relations
research and planning. Entries also must meet the
highest standard of production,
execution, and evaluation of results and budget.
Thank you to everyone
who helped with the bake sales! It truly was a
successful effort.
