Are you interested in taking your
teaching and research to the next level? Create a course that brings your
curriculum to life while meeting 21st Century needs and experiencing
opportunities in local and global communities.
Faculty members are able to designate courses with a community engagement
component (ie: service-learning, community-based research, civic engagement,
international field study) under the designation CE (Community Engagement) in
the Rollins Course Schedule. As a part of CE courses,
students apply what they learn in the classroom with the community through rigorous
projects, research, active dialogue, and reflection. CE
courses engage students in roughly 15-30 hours of direct community-based work
throughout the semester with non-profit organizations throughout Central
Florida and beyond. Learning is assessed based on students’ ability to connect
course curriculum and theory to practice. Join us as we discuss CE Designation
at Rollins including how to create a course, identify community partners and
projects that are mutually beneficial, create learning outcomes, course
assessment, and leverage funds and resources from the Office of Community
Engagement to support course projects and faculty development opportunities.
Faculty can learn more about CE Designation (forms and rubric) in advance by
