Just last week an EF-1 tornado touched down in the Edgewater community of Terra Mar Village in Volusia County. When natural disasters like these happen many of us wonder how we can help. If you’d like to take action, we’d encourage you to think about the following ways to get involved:

Reach out to the Terra Mar Village directly: It has been reported that 90 homes have been damaged in the subdivision. Different relief organizations have helped residents clear debris and secure their property. Now the community needs to begin rebuilding. Unfortunately some residents are without insurance. The Terra Mar Village – Home Owners’ Association (HOA) has set up a fund to help those affected by these storms. Monetary donations can be sent to:

Terra Mar Village
Attention: Diane Husmann
10 River Park Blvd.
Edgewater, Florida 32141

Checks can be made out to Terra Mar Village; please be sure to note “Tornado Fund” on the memo line.

In closing, we’d like to leave you with a message from Ms. Diane Husmann, co-manager of Terra Mar Village:

Thank you for the Well Wishes and Thoughts as well.........we are so very grateful for the outpouring of kindnesses and generosity of every type to us. "Thank you" does not seem adequate, but I must tell you...these two simple words hold the deepest of emotion.”

Thank you,
Rollins Relief Executive Board

*As always, please remember when donating to any organization, it’s a good idea to make sure it is a legitimate and verified group. Sites such as Guidestar and Charity Navigator can help you determine if organizations are established and where their funding goes.
