H1N1 Flu Update

Important Information About the H1N1 Virus

Ongoing media attention about the H1N1 virus (more commonly known as “swine flu”) continues to create concern. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the seasonal flu unfortunately causes thousands of deaths each year—most often the very young and the elderly. It’s important to remember, however, that most people who have become ill from the H1N1 virus have recovered without needing medical treatment or hospitalizations and resulting deaths have typically included other complications.

Rollins staff will continue to work closely with the Orange County Health Department, Florida Department of Health and the CDC to actively monitor the situation. In addition, members of our College leadership team attend periodic briefings on H1N1 to stay apprised of the situation. You will receive updates as needed.
