The Rollins College Hamilton Holt School is pleased to announce that Anya Kamenetz will be the featured keynote speaker at the October 10-11, 2013 Associated Colleges of the South’s Focus Forum on Adult Education and the Liberal Arts. Kamenetz will be speaking on October 10 on Adult Learners and the Liberal Arts: Changes in Higher Education to members of the ACS and on The Education Revolution to members of the Rollins community including faculty and students.
As an educational futurist, Kamenetz speaks on issues facing the Millennial generation and delivers core insights into change, technology, and talent to her audiences. She has shared her insights with leadership from the government of Malaysia, Harvard’s Berkman Center, NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, Cornell University, University of Wisconsin, Madison, University of the Pacific, and the U.S. Department of Education.
Kamenetz’s highly regarded debut book Generation Debt, published when she was 24, landed her everywhere from Larry King Live to The View, stoking national debate on the unique and unprecedented economic challenges young people face.
In another popular book, DIY U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs, and the Coming Transformation of Higher Education, Kamenetz tells the story of how technology is disrupting one of the most tradition-bound industries in the country. Her e-books, Learning, Freedom, and the Web, in collaboration with the Mozilla community, and The Edupunks Guide to a DIY Credential, funded by the Gates Foundation, are available for free download at learningfreedomandtheweb.org and edupunksguide.org. She has key chapters in two upcoming books to be released by Harvard and Stanford University Press.
Named an "Educational Gamechanger" by Huffington Post, and a two-time winner of the national Education Writers of America prize, Kamenetz is a senior writer for Fast Company magazine and a nationally syndicated columnist for Tribune Media.
The two-day conference was made possible through a $10,000 grant from the Associated Colleges of the South to Rollins College and the University of Richmond. The forum will be held at the Alfond Inn on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
