Hosting international visitors, whether they are here for research, teaching, or a combination, contributes greatly to Rollins College’s goal of internationalization. Academic Departments interested in bringing an international scholar to Rollins College should consult with both Human Resources and the Office of International Student & Scholar Services for advice on the process for offering immigration sponsorship to the scholar. The Office of International Student & Scholar Services is here as a resource and partner in the process. While specific processes are described in the Guidelines as the responsibility of the Academic Department, it is important to understand that OISSS is available for guidance.
International Scholars typically are short-term scholars, research scholars, or professors coming to Rollins for a short-term, non-tenure track appointment. If you are bringing a visitor for a single lecture or two and that visitor is able to secure a B1 visitor for business visa, then the Guidelines do not need to be followed; however there are some good suggestions and considerations in the Guidelines that could be used for all international visitors to campus. If in doubt about which visa is appropriate, it is best to consult with the Office of International Student & Scholar Services or Human Resources.
