What is your Major?
What is your area of study within Music?
Voice Performance and Pedagogy.
Why did you decide to attend Rollins College for music?
Rollins College allowed me to follow many diverse paths within music. I had the liberty to study vocal literature, pedagogy, and performance, while at the same time pursuing my interests in music history and art history. The small class sizes allow for more individual attention and the professors within the music department honestly care about my career objectives.
In what ways have your studies at Rollins prepared you for your career goals?
Rollins College has prepared me to think about the music world in a competitive way while nurturing my development in a safe environment. I have grown not only as a musician, but also as a music scholar. Music in my mind is part performance, part technique, and part academic study. Rollins College fosters this combined approach.
What is your favorite musical event of the year, and why?
My favorite musical event of the year has to be the Bach Festival. A week long of wondrous world-class music in Winter Park is something that everyone should experience once in life. The Bach Festival Society performs masterpieces by great composers and import wonderful soloists, whose voices and instruments ring beautifully in the Knowles Memorial Chapel.
How have your experiences in non-music classes helped to shape you as a musician?
The non-music courses have helped me develop the academic approach toward music and have taught me to think critically and analytically about any subject.
