Rollins College Hosts Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration

What: This three-day celebration will honor the life and dreams of Martin Luther King, Jr. and take advantage of an opportunity to teach King’s message of leadership, education and social justice. Events are free and open to the public.

Background: Rollins invites the community to celebrate and honor the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for his work toward racial equality and economic justice for all people. Saturday, January 17 at 6 p.m.

Movie Night – The movie "Crash" will be shown followed by a conversation about the significance of the movie.

Location: SunTrust Auditorium, Roy E. Crummer Hall

Sunday, January 18 at 8 p.m.

Open Mic/Spoken Word – All are welcome as poets share their work in a coffee house atmosphere. Refreshments will be served.

Location: Dave’s Down Under, Cornell Campus Center

Monday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Candlelight Vigil – Don’t miss the culmination of the three-day celebration. The vigil will feature commentary and music. Student speakers will address King’s message about leadership, social justice and education.
