Orlando, Fla., April 28, 2009—The Rollins MBA at the Crummer Graduate School of Business announces that Senator Mel Martinez will deliver the commencement address at this year’s graduation ceremony of the Rollins MBA Spring Class of 2009 where 144 students will earn their Rollins Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees. In his address, Senator Martinez will focus his remarks on facing the current economic challenges. Senator Martinez will also be presented with an honorary MBA from the School at the ceremony.
Commencement is scheduled for May 1st, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Warden Arena at the Harold & Ted Alfond Sports Center, Rollins College. The commencement will be followed by the President’s Reception honoring graduates and their guests.
The newest graduates to receive MBA degrees from the Crummer Graduate School’s include the Corporate MBA, Professional MBA, and Early Advantage MBA programs. The honorees will join family, friends, faculty, staff and fellow students at the commencement service to celebrate this momentous occasion.
“Although the current economic climate remains challenging, each graduating student is equipped with a set of skills to enable them to, not just rise to the challenges, but to see the opportunities,” said Craig McAllaster, Dean, the Crummer Graduate School of Business. “As tomorrow’s leaders, these students will shape our businesses and communities and set the pace for our future growth.”
Mel Martinez is a United States Senator for Florida and the former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. After earning his undergraduate and law degrees from Florida State University, Martinez practiced law for 25 years in Orlando. Following his career as an attorney, he served as Mayor of Orange County. From Orlando he went to Washington to serve in the President’s Cabinet, and then successfully ran for Senate, becoming the first Cuban-American to serve in the United States Senate.
