Winter Park, Fla. (May 28, 2009) – Rollins today announced that it will participate in the new Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program), which will be offered by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) beginning August 2009.

“Rollins College has a historic commitment to serving the community,” said President Lewis M. Duncan. “The Yellow Ribbon Program gives us an opportunity to help those who serve our national community. We are proud to participate.”

Rollins has historically participated in VA tuition benefits, but no other program has offered the level of assistance of theYellow Ribbon Program.

“This program will ensure that a veteran's tuition charges are met through a combination of VA benefits and Rollins College grants,” said Steve Booker, director of financial aid. “Through these grants, veterans will be able to graduate from Rollins debt free.”

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows institutions of higher learning (degree granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with Veterans Association to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate.  Rollins has chosen to contribute 50 percent of those expenses and VA will match the same amount.
