U.S. News & World Report Ranks Rollins College First in the South
Winter Park, Fla. — Rollins College ranks number one among regional universities in the South in the annual rankings of “America’s Best Colleges,” released today by U.S. News & World Report. This is the fourth consecutive year that Rollins has been named to the top spot in this category. For 10 consecutive years prior, Rollins had been ranked second among regional universities in the South and first in Florida.
In the category of “Best Universities – Master’s” (schools that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s-level programs), Rollins ranked first, while Elon University, Elon, N.C., ranked second and Stetson University, DeLand, Fla., ranked third. Rollins has been included among the top regional universities since the ranking of the nation’s top schools began in 1987.
Rollins was also ranked in the top three in the South in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category for offering the best value, which relates academic quality with the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of financial aid.
The “best college” rankings are based on surveys of college officials, combined with data provided by institutions, including student selectivity, faculty resources, financial resources, graduation rates and alumni satisfaction.
The weekly edition of U.S. News & World Report magazine containing the 2009 rankings and the newsstand book, “America’s Best Colleges,” will be on newsstands Monday, August 25.
Founded in 1885, Rollins College is Florida’s oldest recognized college, and is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of “America's best colleges.” The College of Arts & Sciences offers full-time undergraduate programs in the liberal arts. The Hamilton Holt School serves the Central Florida community by offering exceptional undergraduate and graduate degree programs during evenings and weekends to students diverse in age, experience and professional development. The Crummer Graduate School of Business is consistently ranked by Forbes magazine among the best business schools for return on investment, and Forbes recently ranked the MBA program No.1 overall in Florida.
