Join Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) October 15 for an Information Session on Sweatshops
October 12, 2009
Join Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) Thursday, October 15, at 5 p.m. in SunTrust Auditorium for an information session designed to educate the campus on sweatshop labor.
Members of SLAP will discuss what sweatshop labor is, what it entails, how it affects workers and their families, the products made, and the role of consumers in fighting this injustice. The group will then discuss what SLAP is and what the organization is doing to combat the issue on Rollins' campus.
Special guests will include Wanda Ramos, a Jobs with Justice co-organizer, who will speak of her personal experiences working in simulated sweatshop conditions, and slam poets, who will creatively express their own take on the issue.
