StudentAdvisor released its spring 2012 list of Top 100 Social Media Colleges, ranking Rollins College 90th in the nation. Mastery of
public social media methods, tools, and websites was determined through
qualitatively measuring audience engagement via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs. The list is
based on a mathematical algorithm that quantifies the social media footprint of
each college and university in the United States.
Selected from among 6,000 federally-recognized colleges, universities, and post-secondary schools in the U.S., Rollins is proud to be in the ranks with such large national institutions.
“We’re thrilled to be honored in the top five percent of schools effectively using social media,” said Director of Interactive Marketing Nick Friend. “Our goal has always been more than just promotion; by providing engaging content, our social media channels have
really allowed people to stay connected to Rollins whether they’re on our beautiful campus or half a world away.”
The StudentAdvisor team also indicated that Rollins had an outstanding example of an effective social media policy. The desire to keep the College’s “offices, professors, and staff members on track with social media,” was also cited.
Rollins’ future plans for the social space include the creation and distribution of more
student-produced content, as research has found that everyone from prospective students to alumni want to hear an authentic student voice.
