Chrissy Garton is the Director of Social Innovation at Rollins College. Under her leadership, the Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainability Initiative has been launched and named a campus-wide institutional priority. In her role, Chrissy works closely with faculty, administrators and students to ensure that a Rollins education prepares students to approach society’s big challenges through the lens of innovation and sustainability. In 2012 Rollins was recognized for its leadership and commitment to the field with the designation as an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus.
Chrissy leads the department in its belief that the dexterity of successful "changemaking" is critical within every industry and sector; that social innovation should not fall within one department or discipline, but rather integrate into the fabric of an interdisciplinary and experiential education. Carefully including diverse perspectives and tools from the arts, sciences, business, public and nonprofit arenas will best position us as effective agents of social change.
The power of collaboration, interdependence and intersectionality is prevalent throughout Chrissy's career, having served in strategic planning and communications capacities within the public, private, nonprofit and higher education sectors. In the community, Chrissy serves on the Board of Directors for the Mayor Bill Frederick Leadership Initiative, the League of Women Voters Orange County and is a charter member of the Central Florida Partnership’s Young Professional Advisory Council. She is a graduate of Leadership Orlando Class 77 and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Chrissy earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Rollins College. She is most impassioned by issues of civic responsibility, engagement and education, community vitalization, economic development and social entrepreneurship. She currently resides in beautiful Orlando, Florida with her husband, Craig and daughter, Brynn.

Thank you to the incredible work of Rollins' SESi Changeteam!
The SESi change team is more than a group who wants to educate for social change – it is living social innovation. The authentic collaboration of this team unites the traditional liberal arts College of Arts & Sciences and College of Professional Studies with the Crummer Graduate School of Business. Faculty across academic disciplines align with co-curricular leaders in international programs, community engagement, multicultural affairs and specialized centers of excellence in advanced entrepreneurship and philanthropy and nonprofit leadership. The dynamic strength and diversity of expertise joined around one table has enabled SESi to develop with high quality and integrity. The team feels strongly that interdisciplinarity is pivotal if we truly want to educate for “everyone a changemaker.”
