Sanjay RanaSanjay Bickram Rana spent his summer helping others in Costa Rica. He writes:

Most of us have this image of a social entrepreneur as an individual who receives prestigious awards or gains international recognition for his/her work, or even as someone who appears on television in various shows such as Ted Talks, and astonishes the viewers with stories of innovation and change. It is therefore of no surprise that one may encounter many individuals, particularly those from the younger generation, who are all striving to be social entrepreneurs with the aim of changing the world. Kelsey Uhl c/o '15 is like any other student at Rollins. She is active in her sorority and a resident adviser for first-year students at Rex Beach Hall. Along with Emma-Lee Clinger, Shelby McGuire,  also c/o ’15, and Katrina Zdanowicz c/o ’16, she is launching a new international nonprofit program that they are calling  4Girls. Their vision is to empower young women in impoverished cities worldwide through after-school programs  grounded in pillars of education, confidence and personal growth. Read more...

I have never heard such insightful speakers, I have never met such ambitious people, and I have never learned quite so much such in a short period of time in my life. Attending the America’s Business Council’s annual Continuity Forum was one of the best academic and personal growth experiences I've had.


Raghabndra KCRaghabendra KC class of 2013 is dedicated to issues of health and global poverty. When not in class, KC leads Mission Aqua, a not-for-profit initiative that has already provided over 500 school children in rural villages in Nepal with clean, safe drinking water. 


Anna MontoyaAnna Montoya, a senior A & S student, never heard of a social entrepreneur before Rollins. Though the many opportunities on campus including international trips, Anna has found a passion for helping others in new and impactful ways.
