Rollins has formally engaged in College-wide, integrated institutional planning and assessment with the goals of improvement and quality enhancement since the 1980s. Initially framed in 10-year cycles, the College has utilized five-year planning frameworks since 2011.

The most recent strategic planning cycles, 2016 and 2021, led by the College’s 15th president, Grant H. Cornwell, were driven by three principles: 1) strengthen the integrity of the College mission; 2) strengthen the College’s market position to better secure and enhance the financial resources needed to discharge that mission; and 3) engage the Rollins community in a strategic planning process to build a strong sense of shared vision and purpose, create a community of collaboration with a clear sense of direction, and use shared understanding of the College mission and markets as the basis for planning.

Undergirded by these principles, three themes emerged in the 2016 planning process: engaging our students, delivering on our promises, and strengthening our strategic assets. These themes continue to guide the 2021 cycle of strategic planning.

  • Engage Our Students
We will build upon our tradition of innovation in our educational programs so that we become a national model for engaged learning.
  • Deliver on Our Promises
We will commit to the academic and post-graduate success of each of our students.
  • Strengthen Our Strategic Assets
We will invest in areas essential to our prosperity and competitive advantage: our people, our workplace culture, our campus, and our strategic information.
