Advising Referrals

Rollins College believes that the one on one faculty-student advising relationship is central to supporting students in reaching their goals. During the course of an advising session, a faculty advisor may need to refer an advisee for additional information or support from another office.

Alphabetical List of Referrals

Below is a list of common referrals made by faculty advisors. As a guide, we have listed why academic advisors typically refer to those offices and how to connect the advisee directly to that office.

Accessibility Services

Refer students who disclose a disability or are asking for accommodations without documentation. Refer students who have indicated that they could use additional support and have disclosed that they have a disability.

Center for Career and Life Planning

Refer students who are seeking additional career or graduate school advising. The Center for Career and Life planning assists students with resume advice, identifying and researching careers, graduate school advising, and general career readiness assistance. Students who are also looking to identify and apply for academic internships or who are interested in finding on-campus employment opportunities.

Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement

Refer students who would like to find their anchor on campus. The center oversees three main areas: diversity and inclusion initiatives, student organizations, and fraternity and sorority life.

International Programs

Refer students who would like to find an international program that supports their personal, academic and professional goals for study abroad/away. International programs include; off-campus international programs, all domestic off-campus credit-bearing programs, semester programs, summer programs, and faculty-led field studies.

Librarians

Refer students with any research need to our librarians in Olin Library. Help is available whether it be for completing an assignment or researching graduate schools and potential employers.

Student Records

Refer students who have changes to registration, transcript requests, degree/enrollment verifications, academic record and transcript maintenance, monitoring degree requirements (Degree Works), and awarding degrees (graduation).

Title IX Coordinator

Refer students who have experienced sexual misconduct and harassment for reporting options, interim measures of safety, and connection to resources. Advisors may contact the Title IX coordinator if they need further clarification on if they should or should not file a report.

Important Reminder: You are obligated to report any incidents involving sexual misconduct and harassment to the Title IX coordinator.

Tutoring and Writing Center

Refer students with any questions regarding specific content in a course or to help a student brainstorm a topic, create an outline, structure an argument and thesis, edit a final draft, revise returned work, and accurately cite sources. Common referral made by Advisors when a student receives an academic warning.

Wellness Center

Refer students who may need confidential counseling which could cover a variety of issues that are interfering with academic progress and holistic wellness. The Wellness center provides crisis intervention on as-needed basis, as well as consultation and referral services. 

Refer students who may need episodic care, lab testing, sexual health care or wellness care. Health Services also provides referrals for students without student health insurance.
