Ashoka U has renewed Rollins’ Changemaker Campus designation, recognizing the College’s unwavering commitment to global citizenship, responsible leadership, and social innovation.

Ashoka U has renewed Rollins’ designation as a Changemaker Campus, underscoring the College’s continued commitment to global citizenship and responsible leadership through experiential learning, global initiatives, and community engagement focused on social impact.

Rollins joined the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus network in 2012 as Florida’s first member and was successfully renewed in 2016 and 2020. The College is one of only 29 campuses across the country to receive this designation.

“It is abundantly clear that Rollins maintains a strong social innovation and changemaking ecosystem that meets the standards of our Changemaker Campus criteria,” says Heather MacCleoud, chief network officer at Ashoka U. “The renewal review team is deeply grateful for your leadership and commitment to social innovation and changemaking, which has undoubtedly been instrumental in ensuring that your campus continues to cultivate a thriving ecosystem.”

The Changemaker Campus designation is the world’s leading designation for social innovation. It recognizes campuses that are leading the way and pushing boundaries about the role of higher education in society, empowering students to be changemakers and lead both local and global challenges. Changemaker Campuses demonstrate excellence and innovation in visionary leadership, changemaking, institutional culture and operations, and impact influence.

“We are proud that Rollins has been a partner of Ashoka for over a decade, and we remain fully committed to changemaking education,” says President Grant Cornwell. “As the first designated Ashoka U Changemaker Campus in Florida, Rollins has delivered on its promise as a leader and convener of liberal arts institutions nationally in social innovation, social entrepreneurship, and community engagement. The goal is for all Rollins students to consider 21st-century issues from a cross-disciplinary, liberal-arts-based, innovative mindset and provide opportunities for deep connection, analysis, reflection, and action.”

Offerings such as the nation’s first AACSB-accredited major in social entrepreneurship, nationally recognized community engagement programs, the Social Impact Hub, and partnership programs with the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) Initiative have enabled Rollins to create intentional and meaningful pathways for students to recognize their role and responsibility as changemakers in and outside the classroom.
