What is the Foundations Summit?

Every year, near the end of both fall and spring semesters, over 200 Rollins Foundations in the Liberal Arts (rFLA) students present their interdisciplinary capstone projects at the Foundations Summit. Now in its 9th year, this event is a familiar and welcome campus tradition that cultivates and celebrates our academic community. The Summit also includes Honors students in the spring, making it a significant academic event that touches all students as they progress through our liberal arts curriculum.

Why Should You Volunteer?

Professional and Personal Reward: Volunteering as a Summit Interviewer is a fulfilling experience that allows you to reconnect with students and witness their growth. It reaffirms the value of a liberal arts education.

Insight into Curriculum: Gain a comprehensive view of our developmental rFLA curriculum and see how students build on foundational pieces throughout their journey.

Networking Opportunity: Enjoy a Welcome Breakfast hosted by the Dean of CLA (Ashley Kistler) and the Dean of Gateway (Micki Meyer), where you can meet and mingle with Rollins faculty, staff, and alumni.

Role of a Summit Interviewer

Summit Interviewers help capstone students practice professional skills such as networking conversations, elevator pitches, and responding to common interview questions. Some example questions include:

1. Why should I hire a liberal arts graduate?

2. How has your education prepared you to solve problems in my team/company?

3. Describe a time when you excelled outside of your comfort zone.

4. When have you completed a complex project from start to finish, managing deadlines?
