The Office of Grants & Sponsored Research works to further faculty and staff research and scholarship by offering assistance and resources to help find, apply for, and manage external grants and other funding for projects.

The goal of the Office of Grants & Sponsored Research (OGSR) is to support programs that advance the mission and enhance the reputation of Rollins College while benefiting students, faculty, staff, and the greater community. External grants have funded numerous faculty research projects, undergraduate research opportunities for students, multidisciplinary faculty development work, community-based research and other programming, and both small and large-scale curriculum development projects.

The OGSR works closely with Rollins faculty and staff throughout the life cycle of a project, from proposal development through award set-up, management, and closeout.

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Provost, the OGSR is a dedicated resource for all Rollins faculty seeking external funding in support of their research, creative works, and other scholarly activities. This includes government grants and contracts, private or corporate foundation funding, subawards with other colleges and universities, collaborative grants through the Associated Colleges of the South consortium, and Fulbright Scholar awards and other prestigious fellowships for sabbatical. The Office also functions to ensure financial compliance with award terms and conditions, applicable regulations, and institutional requirements.

The OGSR offers a range of resources and activities, including:

  • One-on-one consultations with to discuss project ideas and research goals
  • Assistance with identifying appropriate funding sources
  • Access to our funding database to search for relevant opportunities
  • Regularly scheduled writing retreats and open office hours
  • Workshops, presentations, and a lending library of books on grant-seeking
  • E-newsletters highlighting relevant funding opportunities, articles, and events
  • Templates and tailored work plans to assist with on-time proposal submissions
  • Assistance with editing, formatting, budget development, and forms completion
  • Information on institutional policies and procedures, including the requirements for submitting proposals on behalf of the College
  • Award set-up and assistance with post-award management and budget tracking, in close collaboration with our Finance Department

The Office of Grants & Sponsored Research also works closely with the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations within our Institutional Advancement division to identify potential funding opportunities available through private and corporate foundations and to assist with larger institutional grant-seeking initiatives.
