Ed Bustos ’98 ’03MBA, director of international admission, has been awarded the 2023 Doc Gallup Award for Service Excellence by the Rollins Service Excellence Committee.

Bustos has served the College for nearly 15 years and takes great pride in serving our international students and families throughout their entire college journey at Rollins. He is also actively involved in the larger Central Florida community through his work with A Gift for Teaching, Horizon Scholars, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

Of Bustos’ work, one colleague said, “He has worked tirelessly to recruit international students to Rollins. I have participated in multiple recruiting events with him and observed the amazing work he does firsthand. The diversification of the Rollins student body owes a lot to his work.”

The Doc Gallup Award for Service Excellence recognizes an individual faculty or staff member who, in the judgment of the Service Excellence Committee, best exemplifies and models Rollins’ Service Excellence philosophy and values in their service to others. The award is named in memory of Galen “Doc” Gallup, who served as Rollins’ beloved post office supervisor from 2006 to 2016. Gallup was well known for his passion, high energy, and humor in creating memorable service experiences for those he served. Although Gallup lost his battle with cancer in early 2020, the memory of his good nature and special approach to serving others will continue to be a source of inspiration for those whose lives he touched.
