A 22-year veteran of Rollins College, Matt Hawks has been promoted to the role of associate vice president of human resources and risk management.

Matt Hawks has served Rollins since 1996 in progressively responsible HR leadership roles and is a past chair of Rollins’ Service Excellence Team. He replaces Maria Martinez, who retired May 31, as associate vice president of human resources and risk management.

In his most recent role as HR director, he managed the staff and all day-to-day operations of the department. During his tenure, he has also represented Rollins externally as chair of both the Florida chapter and Southern Region boards of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPAHR) and is currently president-elect of the newly formed Association for Service Excellence in Higher Education.

“These internal promotions—as opposed to conducting external, national searches—are proof that we have a great talent base right here at Rollins,” says President Grant Cornwell of Hawks’ promotion, which coincides with that of Troy Thomason’s to chief information officer.
