Waiting List is updated in January via email to all families on the waiting list ages 2-4. If a family does not reply to this email, they are placed on an inactive list. If a family contacts us afterwards requesting information about their status, they can be reestablished as an active waiting list family.
Enrollment for upcoming school year is determined by the number of available openings after current family’s re-register in early February.
Director informs the Executive Director of Faculty and Staff eligible for a space in the upcoming school year. These families are contacted and offered a space for their child. After all faculty and Staff on the waiting list have responded, any spaces still open will be offered to alumni families and then to community families.
Hume House Enrollment Process for Children with Specific Identified Needs:

Director informs Executive Director and Inclusion Specialist of children on the waiting list.

When ASQ is completed, the Director will score and inform parents of results. If the child is determined to need additional support in the classroom, as determined by ASQ scores in the black in three or more areas, an Early Steps or preschool diagnostic evaluation will be required/recommended to the parents prior to enrollment completion.
A Play Date visit is arranged for the child to experience the setting and for Hume House inclusion staff to observe and make recommendations regarding the child’s enrollment.
Director and Inclusion Specialist will participate in the play date visit in designated classroom and determine classroom placement based on current classroom populations. Children with identified specific needs will be included in the CDC as space and classroom composition allow for successful achievement of educational goals.
