Building a strong and inclusive campus culture where everyone can thrive.

At Rollins College, our vision for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging is to celebrate all members of our college community and to broaden our collective understanding by uplifting diverse identities, cultures, experiences, and perspectives. We acknowledge that this requires a willingness to have tough conversations, hear and respect vastly different points of view, and to do all this with respect and grace. Our commitment to DEIB is embedded throughout all we do. Rollins is committed to fostering a campus culture where all stakeholders can thrive and experience a genuine sense of inclusion and belonging.

Institutional Goals

  1. 1

    Deepen Student Engagement with the College’s Mission

    To ensure that all students respect diversity and value a culture of inclusion, we will expand educational opportunities in and out of the classroom.

  2. 2

    Deliver on Our Promise of Student Success

    To improve the academic success and holistic thriving of our Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and Hispanic students at Rollins, we will increase our support programs and services, and refresh our thinking about diversity in recruitment.

  3. 3

    Steward our Strategic Assets to Strengthen Our Competitive Advantage

    To ensure that our faculty and staff can prosper, professionally and personally, serving the College’s mission, we will build a diverse community that honors and supports its members.

How We Define DEIB

For the purpose of this initiative, we may understand:

  • Diversity as recognizing, valuing, and supporting an open and nurturing community of learners, intentionally including diverse national, regional, socioeconomic, gender, sexual, religious, ethnic, and racial identities;
  • Equity as intending and ensuring fair and just treatment and access to opportunities, particularly at the systemic or institution level and especially for historically underrepresented groups;
  • Inclusion as providing to students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds and identities access to Rollins and its opportunities for liberal learning and meaningful work, and creating a welcoming environment within the institution, learning and working environments, relationships, conversations, and programs; and,
  • Belonging as ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds and identities feel they are valued, their contributions are welcomed and appreciated, and their social connections are supportive in helping them thrive and take pride in being full members of the Rollins community.
