Cohort Housing Communities
The Cohort Housing Community program fosters collaboration between academic affairs and student affairs by integrating classroom expereinces with expereinces in the residence halls.
Purpose
Cohort Housing Communities bring the college learning experience into the everyday lives of its residents. Faculty, staff, and students in the CHCs share a commitment to learning and community building both in the classroom and residence halls. Aligning the students’ residential life experience with the academic mission of the College enhances the culture within the halls, by providing a experiential learning and connection building opportunities.
Goals
- Enhance academic achievement, retention, and quality of learning
- Foster greater interactions between faculty, staff, and students inside of the residence halls
- Link in-hall programming to academic experiences
- Provide opportunities for first-year students to become integrated into the Rollins community and the local community
- Provide opportunities for faculty and students to enhance personal connections and nurture relationships outside of the classroom
