Photographs by international relations major Benjamin Mack-Jackson ’24 are featured in a professional exhibition at the Orlando Museum of Art.
A collection of photographs taken by Benjamin Mack-Jackson ’24 are on display through March 19 as part of “Relentless Courage: Ukraine and the World at War,” a gripping photography exhibition at the Orlando Museum of Art. Nineteen of Mack-Jackson’s images are featured alongside works from world-class photographers that capture the humanity, perseverance, and determination of Ukraine’s fight for freedom and independence.
“Ben’s infectious intellectual curiosity along with his relentless drive make a formidable combination,” says his mentor, political science professor Mike Gunter. “One of the best parts of being a professor is helping students like him cultivate their thirst to learn and make a difference.”
Mack-Jackson’s passion for history and global affairs led him to Rollins to major in international relations. Last summer, as an extension of his work with the WW II Veteran’s History Project—a nonprofit he founded in 2015— Mack-Jackson traveled to Ukraine to capture stories from soldiers and civilians whose lives have been upturned by Russian aggression.
“I went to Ukraine as part of a mission to preserve the past and document its current relevance,” says Mack-Jackson. “I hope these photographs will inspire and educate my generation and future generations about the horrors of war so that we will have a more peaceful future.”
