College Faculty and Students
The Rollins Museum of Art (RMA) is committed to interdisciplinary inquiry and experiential learning, creating opportunities for art engagement that promote critical and creative thinking. With more than 6,000 objects in our collection, we are able to provide resources that illustrate links between works of art and a variety of curricula. At the heart of a teaching museum is the ability to help faculty and students discover how art illuminates and provides a context for different academic disciplines, leading to a lifelong appreciation of visual culture.
The Rollins mission statement’s guiding principles are excellence, innovation, and community. Moreover, Rollins is dedicated to scholarship, academic achievement, creative accomplishment, cultural enrichment, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. RMA is an extension of classroom engaged learning and introduces all visitors to diverse intellectual, spiritual, and aesthetic traditions.
Faculty
Partnering with RMA gives faculty the opportunity to bring their curriculums to life. Collaborations between the museum and college faculty effectively enhance students’ in-class studies, taking many forms. These include the coordination of self-guided visits, guided exhibition tours, curated curriculum-focused selections, organizing gallery assignments, special lectures and performances, and more.
All visiting college or university groups require an appointment. Guided exhibition tours must be scheduled three weeks in advance of the tour date. Faculty requesting custom curated art selections for their visit must be scheduled a minimum of four weeks in advance.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a class visit to RMA, please read our RMA Faculty Visit Guidelines and complete the Faculty Visit Request Form.

Object Course Reserves
RMA amplifies traditional classroom learning by providing opportunities for hands-on learning. Instructors may select objects from our permanent collection for students to study in a small group setting in RMA’s Siemens Print Study Room.
We encourage all disciplines to make use of this resource, not just art and art history courses, as these experiences are unique opportunities that encourage the understanding of cultures and historical eras.
The Siemens Print Study Room is also available for the study of our works on paper collection or for small object-based discussion groups. To make an object request and reservation, please fill out our course reserves form and return to Dr. Gisela Carbonell, Curator.
Out of precaution, the Siemens Print Study Room is restricted to individual appointments only for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Students
RMA is dedicated to providing professional opportunities for students interested in future careers in the museum field. Our fellows work collaboratively with museum staff across departments, gaining firsthand experience in the development of programs, exhibitions, tours, and other projects. Two fellowships are offered to students. Both receive $2,400 stipends and last a full academic year.
Fellowships
The Fred W. Hicks Curatorial Fellowship. The Fred W. Hicks Curatorial Fellowship provides one Rollins student in their junior or senior year in-depth training in curating exhibitions within art museums. The fellow works with education and curatorial staff updating object files, assisting with writing didactic labels for pieces on view at RMA and the Alfond Inn, scripting audio guides, and giving public tours, culminating in a year-end public capstone exhibition.
The Romano and Mariolina Salvatori Interpretive Fellowship. The Romano and Mariolina Salvatori Interpretive Fellowship is open to undergraduates entering their junior or senior year and graduate students enrolled at Rollins College, the University of Central Florida, or Valencia College. The fellow works with education department staff on K12 and family programs, assisting with school group visits, teacher workshops, museum family days, and public tours. The fellowship concludes with an end-of-year capstone project based on the museum's needs and the fellow's specific area of interest.
Applications for the Hicks Fellowship and Salvatori Fellowship are now closed. Check back in early 2023 for details on how to apply for the 2023-2024 academic year.
