Brazil: Winter Field Study

BUS 390F: Brazil - Culture, Society, and Business

Spend your winter break and escape the colder weather by visiting and learning in beautiful Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This experiential learning field trip focuses on societal, cultural, and business aspects of Brazil, namely in and around Rio de Janeiro. Through readings, lectures, discussions and site visits, the course explores challenges and opportunities for Brazilian people, their government, and their firms. During the trip, we will meet with business owners in Rio de Janeiro and visit many businesses (such as Grupo Globo and the DARA Institute), view popular national sites (such as Christ the Redeemer Statue, Museu do Amanha) and enjoy beautiful beaches (Ipanema and Copacabana Beaches) while immersing ourselves in Brazilian society and culture. Students will learn about the historical importance of our western hemisphere neighbors and experience firsthand business practices in a foreign country. Students will also gain the opportunity to practice and improve their intercultural communication skills and business etiquette while networking with professionals around Rio.
